The Gazan Emergency and Chronological Misconceptions


At the time this piece is being written, the death toll in recent days due to Israeli airstrikes sits at “at least” 159 Palestinian deaths, the majority of them civilian as reported by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. 

Gaza is currently in a state of humanitarian emergency. This has been declared by the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Occupied Palestinian Territories chapter, and  the declaration coincides with multiple UN reports condemning the Israeli treatment of Palestinian children (OHCHR Report) while coming months after UNICEF’s report criticizing Israel’s judicial conduct concerning arrested Palestinian Children (Children in Israeli Military Detention).
